NREC is developing an automated, machine vision-based strawberry plant sorter.

Sorting harvested strawberry plants is the most time-consuming and expensive part of the harvesting process.  NREC is drawing upon its expertise in vision and Mechanisms & Manipulation to build an automated strawberry plant sorter to streamline the harvesting process, improve efficiency, and ensure consistent plant quality.  Lassen Canyon Nursery and other growers representing approximately 85% of California’s strawberry plant nursery market are supporting this project and plan to use this technology in their operations.
