Christopher Urmson, Ph.D.


Research Scientist



Dr. Christopher Urmson is a Research Scientist at Carnegie Mellon University’s Robotics Institute and National Robotics Engineering Center (NREC).  His research focuses on developing autonomous vehicles for both on-road and off-road applications.  Key accomplishments include winning the 2007 DARPA Urban Challenge and placing 2nd and 3rd in the2005 DARPA Grand Challenge.

Dr. Urmson has a BSc in Computer Engineering from the University of Manitoba (1998) and a PhD in Robotics from Carnegie Mellon University (2005).
