Alonzo Kelly, Ph.D.
Associate Research Professor
Dr. Alonzo Kelly is an Associate Research
Professor at Carnegie Mellon University’s Robotics Institute
and National Robotics Engineering Center (NREC). Dr. Kelly
has been active in robotics (robot manipulators and vehicles)
for more than 20 years.
At various times, he has functioned as chief engineer, program
manager, principal investigator, or university lecturer. Areas
of activity include custom development, product development
and fundamental research relating to industrial, nuclear,
defense and space robotics systems. His academic research
activities focus on perception, cognition, control, position
estimation, simulation, visualization, and human interfaces
for indoor and outdoor mobile robots including autonomous
military ground vehicles, autonomous excavators, planetary
rovers, and indoor material handling vehicles.
Dr. Kelly received his Ph.D. in Robotics from Carnegie Mellon
University in 1995.
