Bill Ross has twenty years of expertise in real-time software and controls, computer vision, advanced simulation, custom processors and sensor hardware, and mechanical design.  He led or co-led numerous large commercial projects, including UltraStrip (successfully commercialized as the Envirobot™), SmartCube (currently in commercial use investigating drug compounds), Cybot (currently in commercial use for mining applications), and SensaBot (inspection robot for offshore oil platforms).  He also contributed to the original NAVLAB autonomous vehicle project, the DANTE 1 volcano explorer, and the DARPA UGCV programs.

Mr. Ross holds seven United States patents.  He received the CMU School of Computer Science Most Innovative Effort Award in 2003 and shared the Allen Newell Award for Research Excellence in 2006.  He earned a B.S. and M.S. in Computer Science from Washington University in St. Louis.
